Hullo,I found out a bit about my greatgrandfather,James Gurney
who came out from Ireland about 1861 and married Sarah Smith in Auckand New Zealand in 1866.
On a shipping list in 1861,James was described as a miner.
His parents were Hugh Gurney and Isabella Cannon who married 25 Aug 1825 in Lower Cumber,Londonderry and had a family.
William, then James dob 28 Dec 1828.And other children.
James married Sarah Smith in Auckland..I believe that they had ten children one of whom was my grandmother,who was born in Thames,N.Z..
My grandmother was Lily Frances Gurney who married
William Hick Coleman Cleave ,March, 1900 in Auckland.
What I would like to find out is who are Hugh's parents
and Isabella's.
I have a few little stories of the family to tell as well.
Looking foward to any infomation.
