Thomas Wilkinson Brighouse

I was given a record that showed Thomas Wilkinson Brighouse may have emigrated to New Zealand in 1902. Would there be any kind of record I could look for to find out if he stayed there...and how long he stayed? I am still looking for the name of his first wife who was the mother of my grandmother, Mona Annie Brighouse. I had been told that she was born in Samoa however, we have no proof of this. One document I found stated that she was born in the "South Sea Islands, Fig" - this could mean Figi - or anywhere. Family believes she stayed in Samoa until she was 4 when she was sent to live with her grandmother Emma Brighouse in England. We had been told my gramma's mother died giving birth to her...but now we are wondering if it was Mona's brother George who was being born when the mother died. And - we are wondering why Mona was sent to England...and George ended up in New Zealand - passing away there at the age of 21? Does anyone know anything about George in the Brighouse family...the son of Thomas Wilkinson born in 1908?
