I am trying to find information on a Margaret ADLAM, born about 1800 on St Kitts (St Christopher), West Indies. Her father, Alexander, was a merchant on St Kitts. Margaret married in about 1819, in Bermuda to Sydney James STEPHEN. Margaret and Sydney came with their family to New south Wales and some time later, Sydney accepted a posting to New Zealand as Chief Justice and Judge of the New Zealand Supreme Court. Sydney STEPHEN dying in Auckland on 13 Jan 1857 and is buried in one of Auckland's oldest cemeteries. Apparently Margaret came back to Australia, I presume to be with her family and dying in Fitzroy, Melbourne, in 1875.
This is all the information that I have on Margaret and her father, Alexander. I have no name for Margaret's mother.
I was wondering if anybody out there in 'ADLAM' territory, knows anything further and could possibly help. Any help would be very much appreciated.
