I am struggling with a brickwall that ends in Murray County GA, with an Eliza Goad w/ 2 males (sons?) in the 1850 census for Murray County. One is James, who is 21 and born in TN; the other is William, born in Indiana. William is my gg grandfather, who married Elizabeth Jackson in Calhoun County AL in 1856. Do you, or anyone, know if this Eliza Goad connects to the Nickolsons? Isaac Nickolson (with Lucretia - who seems to be his mother) is living a few houses away from Eliza Goad in 1850 Murray County GA census, followed by John Nicholson's household, then by James Nicholson's household. There has to be a reason Eliza Goad, age 45 and widowed is living in Murray County GA, when she was born in TN, and had lived (assuming William is her son) in Indiana. Any ideas, anyone? I'm looking for my William Goad's ancestors, of course, but am also trying to chase down the family legend of Cherokee heritage. Thanks Dorothy Rhodes Notify Administrator about this message?
