Peter Nissen: Sch.-Holstein to Nebraska

Peter Nissen was from Schleswig-Holstein, born circa 1840-1850. He had children by his first wife (name unknown) but she died. He left Denmark in the 1870's to avoid fighting in the German army because he said he was a Dane. He homesteaded in either the Dakota Territory or the Nebraska Territory. His second wife, Hansine Tideman, was his children's nanny in Denmark. After settling in America, Peter sent for Hansine and the children, marrying her after she arrived in the U.S.

Hansine and Peter had children also, the second youngest of which was my ancestor, John Nissen. He was born March 1, 1888, probably in Nebraska. John married Elvene Serine Jensen around 1910, probably near Lincoln, Nebraska. I don't know the names of John's siblings, but I've been told that he had two nephews Oogie and Ozzie who lived in Nebraska. Ozzie Nissen was a doctor, and Oogie may have died as a young man.

If anyone can help me with Peter's or John's families, I would be most grateful. I really have very little information on this family.
