Thom-
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I have plans to investigate a little further and then contact PRDH for their explanation. Since the marriage record appears to be "lost" I think all sources had to guess as to who the parents were.
Agathe/Angelique Gamelin is the daughter of Laurent Eustache Gamelin and Marie Josephe Dudevoir dit Lachine. I have found her baptism record 10 Oct. 1745 at Ste. Anne de Detroit. Strangely, Denissen in "Genealogy of the French Families of the Detroit River Region" shows her birth and then claims she died on 17 Oct. 1745. I checked the church records and she did not die then. The marriage to Joseph Normand was said to be about 1768, but there is no record of it at Ste. Anne, although several of her siblings married there in that time frame. I don't know what proof the priest who baptized their four children in Montreal in 1773 would have required to know that they were truly married. He baptized the children as legitimate, with no record of a rehabilitation of the marriage. The children were said to have been born "dans les pays d'en haut" and not "ondoyes".
