Hi,
I am trying to sort out the relationship between SAMUEL b. 1819 & Elizabeth Pearsall NORTON (children Anliza, Mary, Charity & Thomas) and ROBERT b. circa 1823 & Julia PEARSALL NORTON (children Minerva, Josephine, Margaret, Seymor, Charles, John). The couples are together on the 1861 census of Sophiasburgh. Both are blacksmiths. There is also a Loren ? NORTON age 23 living in the Samuel NORTON household. Would like to find Samuel's parents.
Elizabeth PEARSALL is the daughter of Thomas and Lydia PEARSALL and Julia is the daughter of John & Hannah Pearsall. I believe after Robert died (don't know when) she married George Paine (according to Pearsall history) That would make Elizabeth & Julia first cousins.
I am unable to establish the relationship between Robert and Samuel Norton. I cannot find them on the OCFA or the 1871 census of Prince Edward County. I do have Samuel on the 1881 census of Hallowell, Prince Edward County with his two youngest children born to Elizabeth Pearsall and what appears to be a new wife, I believe her to be Almira nee Clark widow of Isaac Gerow and two of her children.(not sure where the German nationality comes from)
