Roots of Nuhn-Family in Germany + emigration to the U.S.

Hello,

I'm quite happy to have found this formum as I'm too searching for Nuhns both in in the U.S.A and in Germany.

My Grandma was a born Nuhn and I can trace the lineage (but with some gaps) back to about 1555. The Problem with the way family trees are done here in Germany is that you only get information about the next descendant and not about his brothers/sisters.

I've learned that there were some members of the family (one of above mentioned brothers and sisters) who emigrated to the U.S. but, unfortunately, I don't no name or year. It is said that there must be a picture of these people at my uncle in Germany but it hasn't been found yet. And it is also said that at least some of the family went back to Germany but I don't know if it's true.

So one of the questions that I have is if there are any records from where the Nuhns came from. Maybe there are old letters wich are hard to read as they are written in old German but I could deal with this. Or even pictures that could help at least identify houses or areas as very little has change during the years here and it might help.

Kind regards & have a peaceful holiday season,

Aron
Germany
