Audrey,
I found a few things. Daniel Grant was a witness to a wedding in Storey County(Gold Hill) in 1866. I found that by going to UsGenweb state search for Nevada. Then I checked the online CADI(Cal.Death Index)and found:
Grant, Elizabeth Margaret b.10-7-1852 Pennsylvania Mother:Morrison Father:Dunn d.4-15-1947 Alameda Co.(01) 94yrs.
Grant, Walter A. b.11-22-1872 Illinois Mother:Dunn Father:Grant d.3-16-1945 Los Angeles(19)Age:72yrs.
I believe the son Daniel Grant was also listed there. I could not find the daughter Margaret. She could be there. Sometimes you have to be tricky when searching. If you don't know about the CADI, go to rootsweb.com and click on the searches button. Go down to California and click on death. You can search there. If you take the information from the search and subscribe to one of the mailing lists for California(also at rootsweb.com)you can possibly find a volunteer to look up the death certificate and transcribe it for you.
Margaret
