I just checked there and found the census and the burial record.
Since I posted the Genforum message, I have had the good fortune to discover that James Hobbs married Emma Jones in Storey County in 1874. They had 4 children, Oliver b. 1875 (died in Storey Co. in 1894), Ethel b. abt. 1876, James H. (Jay) b. abt. 1882, and Willard b. abt. 1886. If you have any further information, I would love to have it!
