Shirley A. Bruno O'Brien A memorial Mass for Shirley A. Bruno O'Brien (nee Marquardt), of Elburn and Vero Beach, Fla., will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at St. Gall Catholic Church, 120 W. Shannon, Elburn, with Father Karl Ganss celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in Middletown, N.J. Born March 3, 1929, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Willis and Virginia (nee Barton) Marquardt, she passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Mrs. O'Brien loved to do needlework and cook, but her greatest enjoyment came from taking care of her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph W. and was the loving mother of Cynthia (Lee) Soldo of Batavia and Michael Bruno of Port St. Lucie Fla.; stepmother to Sue (Joseph) Lytle of Geneva, Joseph Jr. (Cheryl) O'Brien of Downers Grove, Patrick (Pamela) O'Brien of Geneva, Michael (Karen) O'Brien of St. Charles and Molly (Donald) Prusa of Downers Grove; dear sister of Marilyn (Robert) Marcott of South Carolina; loving grandmother of Ryan, Joshua and Nicole and 13 stepgrandchildren, Andrew, Erin, Ryan, Joe, Jake, Ben, Patrick, Michael, Nathan, Peter, Kelly, Angela and Maggie; and great-grandmother of Liam, Dominic and Nathaniel. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Willis, Barton and Robert; sisters, Virginia McNellis, Mary Alice Caron Kennedy and Barbara O'Brien; son, Fred Bruno Jr.; stepson, Peter O'Brien; her first husband, Fred Bruno; and stepgrandchildren, Ryan Matthew and Andrew Michael. Memorials to St. Gall Catholic Church Building Fund, 120 W. Shannon, Elburn, IL 60119 or Elmhurst Hospice, 855 N. Church St., Elmhurst, IL. 60126, appreciated. Arrangements were handled by Malone Funeral Home, Geneva, 630-232-8233.
