Carol,
This John O'Dea was in San Francisco by 1870 (as "O Day"). He married Catherine Ward there in 1880, and was most likely a cousin to Bishop O'Dea of Seattle. John O'Dea of San Bruno (see his post to this Forum in June 2001) is a direct descendant. I also have information on the family that I would be glad to share.
