O'Donnell Doherty Co Cork, and Co Donegal Ireland
Posted by: Barbara (ID *****2476) Date: July 14, 2006 at 16:41:16
  of 1736

John F O'Donnell was born in Co Cork Dec 1854 . He was the son of John O'Donnell and Elizabeth Carney. I think he had two brothers Peter and Patrick as well. Maybe sisters too that I'm not yet aware of.
Bridget Doherty dob Feb 1861 in Co Cork. Her parents were
Neil Doherty and a woman named Margaret. Bridget I think had two sisters Ellen and Mary
John F O'Donnell and Bridget Doherty were married Jan 26, 1881 in County Donegal (Carndonagh). They immigrated to USA. April 13, 1881, and first settled in Stoneham Ma where there first three children were born, then moved into Boston where the remaining children were born(6). Two of them died in infancy . First (first Susan M died before she was ayear old in 1896, and James Christopher died in 1902.)
Their children were:
Maggie Eliza (1883-Stoneham Ma
Mary Ann O'Donnell "Maime" (Nov 2 1884-Stoneham Ma
John F O'Donnell (Nov 30-1886--Stoneham Ma
Neil A O'Donnell (Feb 18, 1890 Prince St, Boston)
Bridget Agnes(May 20, 1891-Prince St- Boston(North End)
Bernard J O'Donnell(Aug 10, 1893 on Snowhill Place Boston North End
Susan M O'Donnell(the one that lived)(Aug 19 1898-Snowhill Place in Boston No End
and the two mentioned that died.

I wonder if anyone can help me with some information about their marriage certificate information. I am trying to find out what Bridgets mother's maiden name was, who their attendents/sponsors were at the wedding.
I am also trying to figure out on which side of the family my grandmohter and her siblings are related to the above children, I know they were cousin). My grandmother who was also Mary Ann O'Donnell (July 28, 1873) Carndonagh Co Donegal) Her parents were James O'Donnell, and Susan White Doherty. So were the O'Donnell's or the Doherty's the connection? This is the only assumption I can come up with to explain John F and Bridget marrying in Carndonagh and not Co Cork.

With names like O'Donnell and Doherty, I gave a lot of information to make it easier(I hope) for some kind person/s to help find the right family.

Thank you for any and all information. I hope to also find out who John F and Bridgets God parents were, and that would I guess be on Baptismal Records > I wish I had exact dates, but months/year is best I can do now.

Thank you so very very much. I don't have access to any paid sights, so lookups etc would be apprecicated.

God Bless
Barabara
