A biography/family history of Charles O'Donnell is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2, pages 3 & 4.
Charles was born 6 Apr 1874, Saginaw, MT, to Daniel O'Donnell, who died in Midland, MI. Charles became self-supporting at age 18 and he came to Billings, MT, in 1890. He first was employed by the Montana-Minnesota Land Improvement Company building an irrigaton ditch for a year. Then he rented a ranch and became a stockman and owned 1,250 acres of irrigated land at his ranch 14 miles east of Billings, MT. He also owned 10,000 acres in Yellowstone County, and half interest in a 1700 acre ranch in Custer County. As Montana's leading stockman, in 1905 he led in organizing the Montana Live Stock and Loan Company.
In Nov 1897, Billings, Charles married Miss Katherine Riordan, who was born in Boston but was brought to Billings as a child. O'Donnell children: Charles Everett, b. 10 Aug 1903; Lawrence Donald, b. 10 Dec 1909.
