Hi P. O'Neil The ship information I had was through Ancestry.com. But the date was through the 1910 US Census which lists the date of my gggrandmother's immigration. By going back to the ships that arrived in the US for the date range is how I identified the ship and the family. My wife is Canadian and we have been tracing her family as well.During the Famine years most of the Irish emigrants were off loaded at Grosse Isle Quarantine station an island in the Saint Lawrence. We are trying to find the records from that station. While in Ireland this month we found a book of Irish Emigration Lists 1833-1839 for Londonderry and Antrim but we will follow up on the author to see if he has published any other lists. We will also follow up on the Canadian records. During the famine the English landlords paid the passage for the Irish tenants to emigrate to Canada to get them to give up their tenant farms and release the Landlord from the rent accrual whicch he wasn't receiving but which the English government was taxing him on the rent he was not receiving. The records also show that about 80% of the Irish that landed in Canada found their way to the US as soon as possible. Yes my family was and is RC. Notify Administrator about this message?
