Her father was John Ormerod. He was born in 1853 in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. He died in 1887. His wife was Elizabeth Helps.
Martha's grandparents were David Ormerod and Elizabeth Reily. David was born in 1824 in England. He died in 1862. His wife lived from 1834 to 1871.
Mattie had the following siblings: David, May, William Helpo and Ann.
