FYI-Looking at xerox of "Brandon, VT Indians and Original Settlers" I find the listing of "Josiah Parmenter, Esq. came from Northfield, MA in 1794. Bought one acre in the village, near Curtis' Mills, and two other acre lots. His tade was tanning, which he gave up a few years ... comig to town. He married Sarah, daughter of Joshua Field. She was a niece of the Robbins who were killed by the Indians, He had ....daughters, but no sons. He served as justice of the peace for ...years.
Capt. Nathan Parmenter, brother of Josiah, also came from Hatfield. He was a tanner and shoemaker, which trades he pursued somewhat extensively for several years, most of the time near the the village. he was also a farmer. He built the two story the village later owned by N.T. Sprague, Jr......He died in 1857, aged 81."
