Elsie Odell Bowden shows up in the TX death index as having died 28th of August 1965 in Kleberg Co., TX. She was born 29th of October 1905 in Greenville (I assume that's the county name), Texas. Her husband's name was William C. Bowden and her father's name was James Phipps. Her mother's name was Alpha Henkel.
Elsie was a housewife and lived at Agua Dulce, Nueces Co., Texas. She is buried in Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
This James Phipps and Alpha (Henkel) Phipps are listed in RootsWeb as James Emmitt Phipps and Alpha (Hinkle) Phipps. According to one researcher, James Emmitt Phipps was born 2nd of May 1878 in Lee County, Virginia and died 31st of January 1951 at Quinlan, Hunt County, Texas. Another researcher lists much the same information and a number of children. Alpha's middle name was Ann, according to one of the researchers, and she is also said to have been born in Lee County, Virginia.
This couple are listed in the 1900 census as Emmett and Alpha Phipps (with son Benjamin) in Lee County, Virginia.
