The connection I have with the Long and Phipps is through the Name Bowen, all from Spencer and Owens counties at the time. I have a letter and a newspaper article that depicts a Mrs. Elizabeth Lonf (Long) Bowman (Bowen) that states they moved to Indiana from the south in 1860. My letter is from daughter of Matty Bowen relating the misspelling in the article.
