This post intrigued me as I am a Surber researcher, so I did a little work with the census today to see what I could find. 1880 West Virginia Pinnell, Vermont head of household, female 33, b. West Virginia, living in Anthony's Creek District of Greenbriar County. Children: James E. 13 (all b. West Virginia) Mary A. 11 Joseph T. 8 John T. 6 Rosa V. 11/12 1900 West Virginia Pinnell, Vermont b. Jan 1847, West Virginia, age 53, single, (no children listed as born to this mother), Occ. Farmer, living in Anthony Creek District, Greenbriar County. Children: (all b. West Virginia) Edgar J. Sept 1866, 33, Day Laborer Joseph T. Aug 1871, 28, Farmer John T. June 1873, 26, Day Laborer Rosey V. June 1879, 20, Thomas S. Apr 1881, 19, Day Laborer Gruber B. Oct 1883, 16, Farm laborer Nora E. Oct 1885, 14, At School There is no indication who the fathers are of these children. They are all listed as sons and daughters of Vermont Pinnell who is listed as single. All names are listed as Pinnell. Hope you find helpful.
