Kim, I, too, am a Poiles and always felt like I had a weird surname. However, two of my Dad's brothers insisted their entire lives that it was indeed POILES. In my search, I have seen it spelled Poils, Poile, Poyles, Poyle, Pile, Piles, Pyle and Pyles. From what I have been able to collect, they came to the USA about 1780. I found a land transaction in North Carolina dated 1795. I would be most interested to hear from you. Shirl
