thanks for that. I found that there were another ellen and William polkinghorne and the one you mentioned is not them. They were both closer to 30 in 1881 - and there is another Ellen and William living in England - but stating they were born in Redruth. it seems from further invvestigation Ellen and William and their three sons migrated to America in 1884 ish and settled in Michigan - Palmer district for awhile. I think Ellen is buried there in 1913. A family bible in another descendants files states mother was Ellen Polkinghorne nee Butler - helping to confirm that this family is ours. Cheers.
