According to a descendent on Geneology.com, the Maryland
Purdums are all traced back to John Purdum from Wales. A biography of his Great Uncle Bradley K. Purdum appears in the Tercentenary History of Maryland. In it is states that prior to Wales the Purdums came to England from France with Wm. the Conqueror. Originally the family surname was Prudhomme and was changed to Purdum once they settled in Wales. John came to the colonies (here) from Wales as an indentured slave for 10 years. He was then given release and 50 acres of land, which is Damascus, Md. The chimney is still standing of John and Kezia's house in Cedar Grove, Maryland and a family grave site. I have been unsuccessful in obtaining information on the family roots in Wales. Am still trying, not giving up. My brother started the research, however, he passed away before getting beyond John from Wales. My sister and I are now working on it.
Hope this is helpful to you. So, yes we are related..Ah Ha!!
