I have completed the Canadian Quantrill family tree as it relates directly from my gg grandfather who came to Canada in the 1830's with two sisters. With the assistance of the Canadian descendants of my gg grandfather sisters, I have been able to trace the tree back to Old Buckenham, Norfolk, England. There may have been a brother of my gg grandfather's who also came to Canada, but I have not been able to confirm this.

The Canadian Quantrill tree is fairly large thanks to my g grandfather who had 10 kids (6 boys and four daughters). Needless to say, this started the Canadian Quantrill tree well on its way.

I was contacted about 6+ years ago by a English gentleman who moved to Canada upon his retirement (his wife was Canadian). He told me that ALL Quantrills were originally from France, but being Huguenots were forced to leave France and from there, they went to either England, USA (Louisiana), Germany or Holland. Unfortunately, I have not been able to confirm any of this, but it is the same story that I seem to hear from anyone discussing the Quantrill name.

The names that you mention in your message do not seem to tie into my information, but they could be related to either the brother of my gg grandfather that I mentioned above OR they may be from the USA Quantrill's, as I believe that a few of them have moved up here. There certainly are Quantrills in Canada who are not direct descendants of my gg grandfather. However, I do not know what exactly the relationship is.

I feel very confident that anyone with the last name Quantrill, regardless of where they reside in the world, is related. Too unique a last name not to be related.

I am hoping to go back to England in the next couple of years and when I do, I will contract a professional to start digging up infomation on the brother who may have moved to Canada in the 1830's AND to trace the family tree back as far as possible - hopefully to France.

I am sorry that I am unable to assist you any further, but if I come across any info that relates to yours, I will contact you.
