Apparently it was not the same operation. The BRANDT operation was made up of brick buildings, and as indicate in my prior, it still exists. The RAAB operation, as indicated in following, was a 2-story frame structure that caught fire and was totally destroyed. However, given the proximity of the two, it is likely that the raw materials grown in the surrounding fields were processed at the BRANDT factory.
In searching for additional about the chicory factory, came across a write-up for a Henry RAAB who ran a hotel in Stockton in 1890 History of San Joaquin County.

CHICORY FACTORY DESTROYED -- The chicory factory belonging to Wm. RAAB & Co., situated near the San Joaquin river about 10 miles south from Stockton, caught fire about 4 o’clock yesterday morning and was totally destroyed. Nothing was saved. The loss is estimated at about $1500. No insurance. The origin of the fire is unknown. There was no fire about the premises on Saturday. The building was a 2-story frame structure.

SAN JOAQUIN CHICCORY FACTORY -- This factory, owned by Charles BRANDT, is situated on the bank of the San Joaquin river about 8 miles from this city, and has been in operation some considerable length of time. The proprietor expects to manufacture about 100 tons of chiccory the present season.
