Barbara, there is a Sophia Maria Sass, born 1866, married to Johann Christian Friedrich Raasch Jr. that is my great grandmother on my mothers side. She had a twin I believe named Mary and I think they were from Mechlinburg Germany. Is this the same one you are talking about? Blood wise, I am not a Sass. My Dad was born a Johnson and was given up with his brothers and a sister to the Childrens Aid Society in N.Y. He went West on an Orphan Train and was adopted by Herman and Sallie Sass in West Point Nebraska. My great granmother, Sophia, thought it was neat when my mom, a Raasch, married a Sass because Sophia was a Sass and married a Raasch.
