My wife's grandfather was named Edmund Rab and lived in Flatonia, Texas and later in Crystal City, Texas in the early part of the 20th century. We have often wondered if he might have shortened his last name. Could he be the Edmund you mention in your post? Do you know more about the Texas family branch?
