Roger Rayborn started the Raeborn/Rayburn (including all spelling variations) DNA project in January. We are slowly getting started and have 5 people in the project to date. My line's DNA which was earliest known to be in Surry Co., NC around 1771 appears to be related to a line that was in Edgefield Co., SC. We are not related apparently to Roger's Rayborns. All three of our lines had been thought by earlier researchers to go back to the Henry Raiborne of the 1732 will in Henrico Co., VA. I would like to encourage everyone who is researching this surname--regardless of the spelling your family later adopted--to find a male of their Rayburn surname to join in and be tested. This is probably the only way we are going to ever sort these folks out. See Roger's announcement of the project on the RABURN GenForum, posting #387.
