To All Researchers. I have just started on the Rainey History and so far this is what I have. See Subject Line. My father was 1900VAJohn Wilbur Rainey son of John Demosthenes. He had a brother named Grover Lee Rainey who married Mary Ella Hartwell and lived in PA. Dad's family came out of Caswell Co NC; however the story goes that Thomas m. Jane Samuel in 1792, had moved to Jackson (Madison Co) TN where he was robbed of a huge sum and killed July 30,1812. Need verification of that story. His brother William Rainey had already moved to TN and died there 2 weeks before Thomas on July 12, 1812. The 3rd brother James nicknamed Judge, who was married to Nancy Samuel (?Jane's sister?)lived and died in Caswell NC and is buried at Red House Cemetery, Semora NC. Looking for proof of Thomas and Virgil's places of burial. Demosthenes was buried at Kerr's Chapel Cemetery, Caswell Co. I have a little more data on the family, but am seeking verification for that which I have just recently discovered thru the invaluable help of other concerned researchers looking for any minute detail that might clarify and enlarge our respective Rainey heritage.
