Sean,
I have a similar tale my g-great grandfather was John Charters Rainey probably
protestant born 1838 married Eliza Quin lived in Gillistown children Hugh,Sarah and
Daniel my g-grandfather.Eliza died 1866 and
John C in 1888.The story is that Daniel became a catholic and was forced to leave,
he came to Scotland,he was born 1854/55 died in Scotland in 1907.I more info if you or any
other lost Rainey's contact me.
