Gloria, thank you for the information. Do you have access to the cemetery book you mentioned? I'm also looking for the death information of David COOK b. ca 1800 married to Hannah. David was gone before the 1880 census, but I don't know what happened to him or where he might have died. They are on the 1850 Marshall Co., census in District 1 pg 140, but can't be found on the 1860 or 1870. In 1880 Hannah is living with one of their daughters and her family in Marshall.

I'd like to find out more information on David and Hannah to see if they are the parents of my gggrandfather, John A COOK who was b. 1823 Giles.

The county lines seems to merge together in Giles, Marshall, and Maury. On John's Mexican War pension application, he says he was born in Cornersville, Giles County. Said he married in Cornersville, Maury County, to Charlotte Gill b. 1823 Maury County. I think the section that had Cornersville changed from Maury to Marshall. I didn't see on the old maps at the Giles County site that it was ever in Giles.

Chesley Porter, who is shown as the s/o David & Hannah on the 1850 census, follows John A to Appanoose Co., IA, Lawrence Co., MO, and then to Denton Co., TX. I'm sure they must have been brothers. It appears Chesley went to IA with Charlotte Gill's parents about 10 years after John and Charlotte moved there.

There are too many COOKs in this area of TN to try and get them all straightened out.

Did your Rainey's that came from VA by any chance have a daughter that would have fit Hannah's age? She was born ca 1810, I don't know when and where she died, but probably in Marshall.

The names in my John A COOK and Charlotte GILL line are:William T, John David, Martha Jane, Matthew Porter, James Harvey, Frances Harriet, Elmer Arlonzo, and Henry Lawrence. Do any of these names appear in your RAINEY lines or the COOK lines that you are researching?

I think perhaps David b. 1800 was a s/o David and Elizabeth you mentioned. Other possible children may have been Elizabeth who married William Brownlow, John who married Nancy Brownlow and Elizar McCrary, Moses who married Martha Beard, and Rachel who died in 1835 in Marshall.

Maybe you can help me straighten out all my COOKs.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks again.
