Jack, (Giocomo/Gioachino), I am related to a TERRASI line in Maturin, Venezuela. I have just started my research in that county. I do speak some Spanish..but it is very rusty. I have not used in in 30 years. There is currently a posting at Genforum from aa AMATO who lives in Brasil--may be a clue to "Brisolian Amato's"??? Are you aware of the Sicilian naming traditions? We a Michael AMATO in our lines. (Also Sam, Antonino, and George). Michael AMATO died just last year in Florida...appearently the Alzheimer's gene also runs in that line, as he died in end stage Alzhiemer's Disease. Anyway, this branch was from Sicily, likely Palermo Province, settled first in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then in Madison, Wisconsin and wintered in Florida. We are also related to PETTA line..some settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and some in Rockford, Illinois...there may have even been a branch in Waukegan, Illinois, but I have not been able to prove or disprove that branch. I have a database with 2700 related names. Some of the names include: PETTA, BALSAMO, RANDAZZO, RUSSO..many from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area..if your Italian/Arberesh side is smaller, perhaps you could send me some of the surnames you are interested in??? Alioto Alberti Amato Balsamo Biancuzzo Bova Bua Bruzina Cianciolo Corso Cuffari Cusimano Di Giorgio Fratto Genovese Genuisi Gusmano Jannettto LaMilia Leone Maglio Masi Mordini Pedriana Petta Randazzo Riccepito Russo Scaffidi Scibetta Trupiano Valenza Verdina Vermilyea Vicari These are the major surnames in my database...hope this helps. Are you a member of P.O.I.N.T.? It stands for "Pursuing Our Italian Names Together". I have been a member for 4 years and it has been very helpful to me. The also have local chapters and meetings which are called "Pointers in Person" (PIP). There is a PIP meeting in Milwaukee at 11:00AM at the Italian Community Center. I am taking my dad with me this time. Annually the POINT group publishes a directory with the names of people who are researching, their addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses (what ever way the wish to be contacted). This directory is set up to cross research by surname, and town of origin. Quarterly, they publish a small magazine which I find very interesting..lots of culture and heritage. Again, hope I have been helpful. Looking forward to hearing from you, Susan apetta@netwurx.net My RANDAZZO line is related to the TERRASI line which settled in Maturin, Venezuela.
