Here's some anecdotal information on Edward:
Edward Ransford, after coming to New England in the Middle 1600's, became a churchman. He was, successively, Deacon and Ruling Elder of Boston's historic Old South Church, which many years later would be the place where the decision was made to fight taxation with the Boston Tea Party. Upon his death in 1680 he was buried in Old King's Chapel Churchyard, Boston. He owned Rainsford Island in Boston Harbor, which he used for farming, and also land grants from the king in Dorchester. Rainsford Island survives today, after many reincarnations, and is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation area.
