Hi Hazel, For me, this is mainly a tangential way of trying to get more information on the Adams family (the family of the Sarah that you will see mentioned in my initial message). Although the Adams are not related to me, one Adams household adopted my G.Grandmother in Chislehurst, Kent, after she was orphaned in the 1870s. I have a photograph album of hers and one of my projects is to try to identify the photos in there, where possible. I have been in touch with a Mark and Julia Ratcliffe who have a copy of one of these photos themselves. The photos can be viewed on the web at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.morris13/photos/album/page_1_f.html and http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.morris13/photos/album/page_25_f.html Feel free to have a look. Samuel Adams, the adopted father, also came from Staffordshire. His wife's name was Eliza, thought to be nee Jackson, from Yorkshire. Do any of the listed Ratcliffes correspond with yours? All the best. John. Notify Administrator about this message?
