We are currently working very diligently to put together a Friends and Family Reunion in Spearfish SD. We would LOVE to have you with us but NEED to know how many will be able to attend by no later than May 5, 2005 just so we know what to prepare for. If you would like to attend we’ve put on this some informative things about accommodations in Spearfish SD.
Motels & Hotels are plentiful but do fill up VERY quick and you’ll need to make reservations ASAP to be sure that you get a room, unless you would like to stay at Chris’ Campground where a lot of us have chosen to stay. That information is also included. Lets get started.
Spearfish SD – Location – The gate way to the Black Hills Western SD, 14 miles from North Eastern Wyoming border – Population is 8,650 – Weather for early July is 71 degrees average, highs up to 85 low 58.
Motels / Hotels & Campground – We’ll list some of them for you, if you would like more options please don’t hesitate to contact us, we’ll give you phone numbers of who to contact towards the end of this invitation.
Chris’ Campground (Main Reunion Site) is a “Good Sampark” – 701 Christensen Campground and Recreation Area (Take exit 14 in Spearfish)
They offer:
Animal farm (bottle feeding daily at 9am and 6pm)
Pets welcome ( no extra cost )
Laundry room – Bath house .25 cent showers approximately 10 min per 25 cents – Recreation room ( Free ) – Swimming pool ( Free ) – Basketball court ( Free ) – NUMEROUS RV hook ups, all include Electric, Water and cable tv. $23.00 per night adding sewer hook up is 2.00 more per night.
Camping Cabins, (need to furnish your own bedding, sheets, blankets pillows, etc. no bathroom in the cabin, but there is a mini fridge and light, ($33.00 per night, you can have 4 per cabin)
Tent sites – 16.00 per night.

Close by towns and attractions:
50 miles from the Nations first national monument, Devils Tower, ( its very big, history of the Tower is able to be found online, as well as the “Indian Beliefs” of what the Tower is.
The biggest attraction would be of course MT. Rushmore. Going through Deadwood SD it is 44 miles, in Keystone ( the town 2 miles from MT. Rushmore ) offers a LOT. They have the Alpine Slide – Helicopter rides to and around MT Rushmore, 1880 Train rides, very western, very historical and educational with a fun twist, great for families of any size or age.
While we’re on the subject of educational and family orientated fun, there is also lots of caves to explore, for the rock hound buffs, this is for you! You’ll see stalagmites and stalagtites, as well get cooled off and go inside the Beautiful Mountains of the Black Hills.
Deadwood SD is 12 miles from Chris’ Campground ( main reunion site ) Deadwood is a history filled and still booming gambling town. Deadwood has numerous casino’s , with trolly rides to get you anywhere in town for .50 per person. Deadwood is more then just gambling though, they also have tours of Grave yards, the town, as well as ghostly sites to be seen on your own.
Sturgis SD is roughly 20 miles from Spearfish and is WORLD FAMOUS for the biker rally every August, during the rally the sleepy town of 2000 people swells to over 350,000 bikers.
Rapid City SD – Population 56,000 mileage from Spearfish 45 miles ( another way to get to MT. Rushmore is through Rapid City its 20 miles from Rapid City ) offers a good size shopping mall, flea market, bumper boats, the world famous Reptile Gardens, Pirates Cove putt putt golf ( by the way we’ll be having a putt putt golf tournament for all information to follow )
Rapid City also has Sams club – Super Walmart – Kmart - TGI Fridays – Fudruckers - Shakeys pizza – Giggle bees (just like Chucky Cheese) – McDonalds – Burger Kings – Buffet’s – everything you would possibly need from home, you can also watch black hills gold being made into jewelry. Rapid City SD offers quite a bit.
That about wraps it up for just SOME of the things to do and see while enjoying the company of the 2005 friends and family reunion in Spearfish SD this year July 5 – 8th.

We’ll be sending out a Itinerary of things going on that you may want to participate in. To give you an Idea of what is to be expected we’ll give you a sneak peek:
Putt Putt Golf Tournament – Horse shoe tournament – Karaoke and dance – bbq’s – pot lucks – Ghost stories at the fire (night time of course) During the day you’ll be on your own, but in the evening and night we’d love to get together for the above and many more recreations.
