ooh! just saw your message and don't have all my "stuff" with me...but from memory and I'll follow up later regarding details....my research shows originally the name Raybourn (Rayburn), etc. is a Scottish name (NOT Irish) and they are Highland Scots from Aryshire, Scotland. The Scottish clan name is MacRae. Mac means in ANY Scottish name "family of"...RAE means "of the sun"...go under google, search Scottish clans and look up MacRae....that gives you history of Scottish name of MacRae...if start your digging and researc hing and looking up name Raybourn it leads you to MacRaes of Scotland....the Raybourns were/are a very proud people....Raybourn/Rayburn, Raeburn all variations of the original name....but more than likely and most probable ALL are somehow related to one another as all are of same original clan from Scotland...Scots were very similar in lifestyle to Cherokee Indians.....lots more...I will get back to you very soon...glad you are researching and doing the project! Thanks so much. I am a Rayburn from the line of Henry Chesley Rayburn, son of William Rayburn, born 1725...relatives are from Scotch Branch, Kentucky (Lewis County).
