This Mrs. Charles Rector of New Castle Indiana is a "tough nut to crack." When my great grandfather died in Florence, KS in 1940, the obit said among those in attendance, were Mrs. Charles Rector of New Castle, Indiana, the deceased's sister. Then a year and a half later his brother died in Peabody, KS and again, Mrs. Charles Rector, his sister was in attendance. Both Florence and Peabody (in Marion Co.) are on the Santa Fe RR mainline so it would have been a direct train ride to both Florence and Peabody (for an 80 year old) and, I think, that New Castle is on or near the Pennsylvania RR mainline. We have a letter dated about 1939 which is signed, "Maggie" and was from Mrs. Charles Rector in New Castle, Henry Co., Indiana. Now my grandfather had 3 or 4 sisters who could be "Maggie," none of them named Margaret or Maggie. The names that they were were Virginia, Isabelle, and Rosilee. I have no middle names for any of them if they had middle names. They were born 1850 thru 1855. I have been to New Castle, over Labor Day, went thru the huge cemetery there, no luck. Went thru the cemetery listings in the Public Library, no luck. Went thru all the library records, obits, etc., with no luck. They might have been from a farm in Delaware County or Henry County, Indiana as they mentioned in the letter, "they couldn't keep chickens in the city now." Do you have the Rector family as your interest? Give me a call anytime and we can talk about it. I'm looking for any ideas. Sincerely, Earl Earl C. ("Cal") Padgett, Jr. 6522 Summit St. Kansas City MO 64113-1821 ECP6522@aol.com (816) 361-5360
