I am Harvey B. Rector Jr.

I seem to remeber my father talking about a Carrie Herrin, does that ring a bell?

Harvey was born on Nov 28, 1907 in a log house along the Cumberland River in Laurel Co., KY (Pineville) When I was 10 years old we took a trip from Ohio down to Pineville and visited old cemetaries and I know that our side of the Rector family was not from the German Richter, but from the Allsace-Lorraine area of France. I saw cemetary markers for a Mary Rector Boone from the 1700's and my father said that we were related to the Boone's of Daniel Boone lore.

Nathan was probably a moonshiner. A story was that he would take off for days up into the "knobs" and when asked when he was coming back he would reply I'm goin' where I'm goin' and I'll be back when you see me comin' "

I have all of Harvey's books as I am living in Key West now and writing a book myself. Dad and I worked together at Rector & Associates until his death in 1986 and I still have a few clients up in Ohio. He was quite a character, and an accomplished man. He used to make client calls in Hawaiian shirts and claimed that he did "not have to prove himself to anyone!"

If you want to know more, just ask.

Brian
