Have just started verifying my Rector heritage and need some help. Henry Rector b 3/1 1735 or 36 in Prince Wm Co., VA, married Mary Hendren Glascock in 1765, died 11/26/1781. She was born 7/30/1736 and died 5/27/1822. Their son was John Alexander Rector; b. 5/11/1774 in Delaphane, FCV, VA, d 10-12-1855 in Lewisburg, Logan Co, KY. Married Elizabeth Ash 10/10/1796. She was b 2/17/1779 in Rectortown, VA and died 8/2/1855 in Lewisburg. I don't know how many children were born to this couple. One was Wm Morris Rector, my great grandfather, who was b 2/3/1812 in Rectortown; d 1/29/1903 in Abbyville, Ks. Married Mary Jane Hoopes 9/23/1848 and they had nine children, one of whom was Jerome Berry (or Barry) Rector, my grandfather. I would be most interested in knowing why they left VA, then to KY, then onto Belmont Co., Ohio and then to Ringgold Co, Iowa, then to Kansas and then to Oklahoma. Jerome made the 1893 Oklahoma Run to homestead. Is there any help for me out there?
