James Redman, born in Pennsylvania, 1826

Our VFW post is trying to get a new VA headstone for this Civil War veteran's grave. We cannot find an exact birthdate, and the VA needs that for the stone. His DOD was Dec. 30, 1883 in a train yard accident. He lived in Perry and later, Dauphin County and appears in Census Roll T9_1124, page 392C. Local obituary (Newport, Perry County, PA) was very vague, thus his wife's name is unknown.
He had a son, Jimmy, a brakeman on a train who lost his leg in a train accident in 1881. Another son was killed (by a train?) while playing ball near the spot his father was killed. Hoping to find any family or anyone who can give us this James Redman's date of birth. Thanks, Tom Hayden
