Many internet gedcoms repeat a birthdate for John Polk REDMAN
... however NO accurate birthdate is truly known.
John Polk REDMAN was NOT actually born on 04 Jan 1794 !

The above webpage provides an explanation for the use of that particular date ...

issued when John reached the age of 21 years, his date of birth is set.

So that particular birthdate is nothing but a calculated one to provide a best guess
... but it is not an accurate known fact & should NOT be repeated as such
since it causes confusion & extra work for researchers trying to verify that info.
It would be better to just say that John Polk REDMAN was born "about 1794".
