My great great grandfather was Capt. William Flavin who was married to Eliza Dalton. William was born about 1820 and died about 1851. His father was matthew Flavin and his mother was Catherine Redmonds (no dates available) and Cahterine Redmonds was dauther of Bartholomeu Redmonds, born (? Vigo, Spain) and died, Passage East, Waterford, Ireland. We are trying to get as much information on Capt. William Flavin And Eliza Dalton's families. The message below was posted by me on the Dalton page of the genforum:

Body of Message:
I am looking for information on Eliza Dalton who was married to Capt. William Flavin and lived in Waterford or Passage East, Ireland up to about 1850. also any relatives on the Dalton side. my information tells me that Dalton side was in candle making business. I need as much information as possible about Eliza's family. After William's death she and her two children, Martin and Catherine, came to the United States. Catherine (Kate) Flavin married Leopold Vasserot Merle and lived in San Francisco and one of their daughters, Mollie, was my grandmother. Any help will be appreciated.

also, Eliza had a "favorite uncle", a jesuit priest we know as "Father Hugh Dalton," but that name may be incorrect. He was supposed to be one of the founders of Riverview College (Now St. Ignacious) in Sydney, Australia.

we have learned that Father joseph Dalton from Waterford was the founder. Can anyone link "Hugh" and Joseph as the same person. We do have photos and biographies of Joseph Dalton. Also he was friends with Redmonds or Redmond, which was the name of one of the ancestors.

Help us solve this part of our family research...

Please give us any help you can.
