GRANVILLE REDMOND was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 9, 1871 and died in Los Angeles, California on May 24, 1935. As a child he was stricken with scarlet fever and was deaf at the age of three. After moving with his family to San Jose, California about 1874, he attended Berkeley School for the Deaf from 1879-90. At that school he learned painting, drawing, pantomine and upon graduation he entered the San Francisco School of Design. He further studied in Paris under a scholarship. He returned to California in 1898 and took residence in Los Angeles. In the years 1910-1917 he lived in Northern California residing in different periods in San Mateo, Monterey County and Belvedere. He painted wonderful landscapes with blue and orange flowers (California poppies and lupine), rolling hills with California oak trees and eucalyptus trees, seacapes, coastal scenes and moonlight scenes. I am looking to make contact with family descendants or friends of the family. I am also looking to acquire paintings by Granville Redmond for my collection and any help would be appreciated. I can be reached through my email at: Brentemail@aol.com. Thank you, Larry
