Hello! If we're talking about the same John Redmond, he would have been born c. 1863 in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, baptized in Visitation RC Parish (which his father John and Mother (Jo)Hannah helped start ((by family tradition)) and probably lived on Sullivan Street in Brooklyn (they didn't move to King St. or Visitation Place till much later in the 19th century). This John Redmond - again if we are talking of the same man, was the third child and second son of John and (Jo)Hannah (Quirk) Redmond - both immigrants from Ireland. John's father is listed in the 1860 census as a "seaman". If the family history is correct, John started out as a *Brooklyn* City PO(prior to the 1898(?) amalgamation of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan & the Bronx into NYC). He had two daughters, one or both of whom were school teachers. Assuming this *is* the same John Redmond, He was my Great-Grandfather's brother. I recall my father, now deceased, describing his great uncle as a retired PO in Brooklyn and going to his great uncle's wake c.1950. Please feel free to email me about this at: Charared@yahoo.com Am always looking for more info on my Red Hook, Brooklyn/Irish ancestors Notify Administrator about this message?
