Silas was born abt 1841 in Indiana. Silas father was Joel RICHWINE born 5 Aug 1805 Rockingham County, VA; his mother was Susan WEAVER BORN 26 Dec 1809

Many of the records re: the RICHWINES are in German and there the name is spelled RECHWEIN and variations. English speaking/writing clerks persisted in the Americanization of RICHWINE!
I have much more on the early RICHWINES, starting with the first known emigrant, Johans Georg REICHWEIN, who arrived on the ship Elizabeth in 1942. He married Susannah WECKERLIN in Germantown [Philadelphia now] in 1742. I am descended from Johans son Jacob RICHWINE and his first wife, Phoebe DIETZ. Joel and Jacob were brothers.
I have been researching the RICHWINES for about 15 years. I have photos of my RICHWINE ancestors and wives beginning with Jacob's son Gideon, his son Allen, his son Frank Ellsworth, and his daughter...my grandmother Helen RICHWINE EDMONSON. I am delighted to share....and welcome additions and/or corrections.
