Samuel and his family lived almost on the Indiana-Illinois state line, and births in Clark Co., Illinois were reported in Indiana, thus the reason they were listed as born in Indiana and not Illinois. They lived right across the Wabash River on the Illinois side, but state lines didn't mean too much back then.
