A biography/family history of William B. Rhoades, lawyer and judge, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3.

William was born 5 Apr 1878, to John T. and Belle (Novell) Rhoades, born Saline County, MO, 1848 and 1854, respectively. William graduated from high school in Slater, MO, in 1895 and William Jewell College at Liberty, MO, in 1899. He attended Kansas City Law School and was admitted to the Missouri bar in 1901 when he located to Deer Lodge, MT, to practice law. In 1903, he moved to Kalispell, MT, where he was a lawyer and city attorney (1906-1908). In 1912, he was elected a member of the House of Representatives from Flathead County, serving one term. In 1915, William moved to Havre, MT, where he was in private practice and 1917-1920 was judge of the 18th Judicial District. In 1920, he resigned and re-entered private practice in Great Falls, MT.

On 18 Jul 1905, Everett, WA, Judge Rhoades married Miss Joesphine Force, a native of Beatrice, NE. Children: Jane, b. 1907; Robert, b. 1910; Ruth, b. 1911.
