In your search of the Rhoads family have you ever come across information on a Sanford Rhoads (my G-Grandfather. He was born App. 1838 in Indiana and died 12/8/1908 in Guilford Mo. He married Eliza (Smith)Rhoads, born 1/31/1842 died 9/12/1923 in Guilford, Mo. Eliza's mother was Susannah (Copple) Smith, born 1/15/1816. Her Father was Elijah M. Smith, born 1811 and died 1860 in Savannah,Mo. Also Eliza's sisters married Rhoads. Jacob B. Rhoads, born ca. 1835 in Indiana, who married Jane Smith, was the son of John & Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) Rhoads. That senior John was born ca. 1790 in NC or VA, died Sep 18, 1859, aged 69 years, buried at Fairview Cemetery, Rosendale, MO. The younger John (born ca. 1829-32 in IN, married Katharine Smith) was not the son of John & Elizabeth, but he was living with them on the 1850 census, so perhaps was a nephew or other relative. That group of Rhoadses turns up in the area as early as the 1850 census, but I can't find Sanford until 1880 (in Nodaway Co.,MO. As you can see I have more info on Sanford's wife than him. The reason I posted Eliza's info is because of the COPPLE connection. I cannot find a lead to Sanford Rhoads parents or siblings. Sanford and family is on the 1870 census in Leavenworth Co., KS. But he was already married, with children, so no sign of his parents. The 1870 census also says that he was born in Indiana, so it looks to be true, but can't find him in Indiana.
