Joseph Rhoads/Rhodes born 1832(?) in NC or KY

My ancestor was named Joseph Rhodes. He married Elizabeth Mikels/Michaels/Michels. She may have been born in Holland. I think they may have met in TN. Elizabeth died in Wayne County, Missouri. I think Joseph Rhodes did as well.

They had 6 kids:
Louisa
Rebecca
Samuel
Joseph
Mary
Charlotte

I have read Censuses spelling their name either Rhodes or Rhoads. My family has always spelled it Rhodes.

Any info at all about his parents would be helpful.
