In the 1850 census of Dallas County, Iowa, there is a Jacob and Sarah Rhodes, age 45, next door to the Mortimores. They also live very close together in the 1860 census of Dallas County (Rhoads, Mortimer). Age would be OK for Catherine's parents, Jacob born Virginia and that's where Catherine's father was born, and other children of J.& S. born Ohio, as is Catherine. I'd say this is a very likely prospect.
